How did Music on the Block come about?

Joshua Aaron

Music on the Block was founded by Joshua Aaron, composer and pianist from Haarlem. Due to the high demand for music lessons, Joshua began carefully selecting a team of musicians from diverse backgrounds. Joshua brings it all together to offer lessons tailored to each student's profile. Jazz, pop, or prefer classical? At Music on the Block you'll find the teacher who suits you.

Music on the Block consists of a team of young, broadly trained musicians, each with their own core qualities, united by one common goal: 'Music lessons with a modern and fresh approach, where having fun comes first and with the aim of helping you develop your own musical identity, style and taste.'

In addition to individual lessons, Music on the Block aims to build a community for people of all ages. Through our unique platform you can meet others who share your love of music. Music on the Block organises fun workshops, concerts and other activities that are open to everyone, even if you don't take lessons with us.

“Positive energy and support from a teacher is so important at a young age! I was fortunate with my first teacher to meet someone who had as much passion for music as I do; that's why I assembled our teaching team so that we can pass on this passion.” – Joshua Aaron

Which brings us to our mission:

Music on the Block is a movement towards a generation of quirky musicians who share their love of music.
